Cos'è Hemopure?

Hemopure

FAQ - 💬

❓ What is Hemopure used for?

👉 “In patients who have life-threatening anemia and can't receive red blood cells due to availability, religious or immunologic reasons, Hemopure is the only product that can temporarily take the place of blood and save these patient's lives.”

❓ What is Hemopure made of?

👉 Hemopure is made from chemically stabilized, cross-linked cow hemoglobin using a fairly simple and less expensive biotechnology than required for other HBOC blood substitutes. Its minute size – not more than 1/1000 the size of RBCs – is advantageous for transporting oxygen into small spaces between cells.

❓ Is Hemopure FDA approved?

👉 HBOC-201 is not FDA approved for use in the United States, but is approved as an oxygen carrier in South Africa and Russia....Expanded Access Study of HBOC-201 (Hemopure) for the Treatment of Life-Threatening Anemia.

❓ How much does Hemopure cost?

👉 It is also costly: One bag of blood can cost the hospital $200, and the cost to the patient can reach up to $2000 because of the associated costs of supplies, personnel, testing, and regulatory measures. This cost does not take into account the risks of transfusion.

❓ Does hemopure contain blood?

❓ Is there a substitute for human blood?

❓ Is there a synthetic blood for Jehovah's Witnesses?

❓ What can you give Jehovah Witness instead of blood?

❓ Is there a substitute for a hemoglobin?

❓ What is the alternative to blood transfusion?

❓ What are the disadvantages of using artificial blood?

❓ What is Hemopure and how can it help you?

👉 In dire situations like these, there is a blood alternative with the potential to save these patients’ lives: Hemopure. Hemopure is a bovine hemoglobin-based oxygen-carrying solution, and UF Health now has access to it. Bruce Spiess, MD, has just been named the official southeast regional contact point for the distribution of Hemopure. Dr.

❓ Could Hemopure be the next blood alternative to save lives?

👉 In dire situations like these, there is a blood alternative with the potential to save these patients’ lives: Hemopure. Hemopure is a bovine hemoglobin-based oxygen-carrying solution, and UF Health now has access to it.

❓ What happened to Hemopure?

👉 . Hemopure survived, but barely. Unlike the other HBOCs, it was made from cow blood and not expired human blood. It contained no actual red or white blood cells, plasma, lipoproteins, or any other ingredient of the complex cocktail that is human blood.

❓ What is UF Health doing with Hemopure?

👉 Hemopure is a bovine hemoglobin-based oxygen-carrying solution, and UF Health now has access to it. Bruce Spiess, MD, has just been named the official southeast regional contact point for the distribution of Hemopure. Dr. Spiess is one of the leading advocates for oxygen therapeutics in the United States.
